The Kindness of Strangers

My sister and I have been playing Pickleball for the past 2.5 months. A friend kept inviting us and we finally said yes. She has been so patient with us. My sister and I usually go practice on Mondays and then on Wednesdays we play with 1 or 2 other friends.
On Mondays we are on the court around 7:45am and about 20 minutes later we see a man often with 3 other players and it seems like he is a coach. We say: “hi” everytime. One day one of the players came early so we invited her to join us warning her that we are still learning. So last week we told her we are taking lessons in the fall. This past Monday she greets us and asks about our lessons. The coach we always see and greet came over at one point and gave us some pointers which was so helpful and thoughtful.
When we began playing we bought very cheap wood rackets. We ended up returning them as they were poorly made. A friend gave us 2 rackets to play with that were better quality which motivated us to keep going. Well that and the game is addictive.
Small acts of kindness can change everything and you never know who are touching with small random acts like opening a door, or helping someone at the grocery, smiling at a stranger on a walk, buying someone a coffee. It all adds up.
Hugs,
Michelle
